Ethiopia. Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region. Karat village. Konso tribe. Marc Vella is a french musician and a nomadic pianist. Over the last 25 years he has travelled with his Grand Piano in around forty countries to celebrate humanity. Thanks to the variacordes which he has devised, his piano music is unique. Creator of “La Caravane amoureuse” (The Caravan of Love) he takes people with him to say “I love you” to others and “lovingly conquered” their hearts and souls. Marc Vella and Poqalla Tuna Kalla play an improvised duet-playing - one piano and four hands. The Poqalla is a clan head considered as a direct descendant of the first Konzo. The Konso, also known as the Konzo, are a Cushitic-speaking ethnic group. They are agriculturists. Although the Konso people have many customs dating back hundreds of years, it is not uncommon for them to be seen wearing western clothing. The Omo Valley, situated in Africa’s Great Rift Valley, is home to an estimated 250,000 individuals of the Konso tribe.
