USA. Colorado state. Denver. A forest of plants is flowering in one of the marijuana grow rooms at Medicine man. Cannabis buds just look like a knobby tangle of leaves, but the calyx is what actually comprises the female flower. Underneath those tiny leaves (called “sugar leaves”) stand tear-shaped nodules which are the calyxes, and they come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors. Calyxes typically contain high concentrations of trichomes, or glands that secrete THC and other cannabinoids. Medicine Man began nearly six years ago as a small medical marijuana operation and has since grown to be the largest single marijuana dispensary, both recreational and medical, in the state of Colorado and has aspirations of becoming a national brand if pot legalization continues its march. Cannabis, commonly known as marijuana, is a preparation of the Cannabis plant intended for use as a psychoactive drug and as medicine. Pharmacologically, the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); it is one of 483 known compounds in the plant, including at least 84 other cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), and cannabigerol (CBG). 19.12.2014 © 2014 Didier Ruef
