Albania. Tirana. Back yard of the National Gallery of Arts. Old Socialist Realism Statues from the Communist Era. A statue with a broken nose from Enver Halil Hoxha (16 October 1908 – 11 April 1985) who was an Albanian communist politician who served as the head of state of Albania from 1944 until his death in 1985, as the First Secretary of the Party of Labour of Albania. He was chairman of the Democratic Front of Albania and commander-in-chief of the armed forces from 1944 until his death. A bronze statue of a man holding a rifle in his left hand and raising his right arm to the sky. A bronze giant statue of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, better known by the alias Lenin (22 April 1870 – 21 January 1924), who was a Russian communist revolutionary, politician and political theorist. He served as head of government of Soviet Russia from 1917 to 1924 and of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1924. Under his administration, Russia and then the wider Soviet Union became a one-party communist state governed by the Russian Communist Party. Ideologically a Marxist, he developed political theories known as Leninism. Tirana is the capital and most populous city of the Republic of Albania.
