Switzerland. Canton Bern. Wengen. A group of friends from the Gruyère area (Fribourg) eat a traditional cheese fondue outside during the FIS Ski World Cup Lauberhorn. Fondue is a Swiss dish of melted cheese served in a communal pot (caquelon or fondue pot) over a portable stove (réchaud) heated with a candle or spirit lamp, and eaten by dipping bread into the cheese using long-stemmed forks. It was promoted as a Swiss national dish by the Swiss Cheese Union (Schweizerische Käseunion) in the 1930. Wengen is a mountain village in the Bernese Oberland of central Switzerland. Located in the canton of Bern at an elevation of 1,274 m above sea level, it is part of the Jungfrauregion. 14.01.17 © 2017 Didier Ruef
