Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Corippo lies in the Verzasca valley. A rustico (tradtional house) with a swiss flag, an oratory and a cable car to transport goods up in the mountains. Corippo is the smallest municipality in Switzerland. Despite this, it possesses the trappings of communities many times its size such as its own coat of arms and a town council consisting of three local citizens. A town council is a democratically elected form of government for small municipalities. A council may serve as both the representative and executive branch. The village has maintained its status as an independent entity since its incorporation in 1822. In the Roman Catholic Church, an oratory is a structure other than a parish church, set aside by ecclesiastical authority for prayer and the celebration of Mass. The flag of Switzerland consists of a red flag with a white cross (a bold, equilateral cross) in the centre. 9.05.13 © 2013 Didier Ruef?.
